My latest wine column mentions nary a wine, but that’s part of why it’s so important. It’s Part One of my “readers-respond” series, in which several area wine professionals and other enthusiasts weigh in on important issues in Maine’s wine culture. Today, it’s about various state regulations that hamper the healthy, sane, interesting flow and growth of what wine does and can do.

Shouldn’t you be able to walk into a wineshop, talk about a wine that interests you with the gal or guy who works there, and have her or him be able to give you a taste? It’s how they do it in most civilized countries, of course. Read the article for more, and to see that there may actually be something YOU can do about this.
